1700 LOUIS XIV OIGNON Verge Fusee Antique Pocket Watch Montre Coq
Very nice Louis XIV oignon watch. Diameter is 58mm, thickness is 36mm. Beautiful gilt dial with porcelain cartouches. Oversized balance bridge, decorated with birds and floral ornament, typically for French Louis XIV oignon watches. Watch is signed by Albert Baillon in Paris. Albert-Vincent Baillon was member of noted watchmaking dynasty. He was son of Jean-Baptiste-Denis Baillon, Rouen-born watchmaker, relocated in Paris, and father of noted watchmaker Jean-Baptiste-Albert Baillon, watchmaker to the Queen of France Marie Leszinska. Albert-Vincent Baillon was installed at place Dauphine already in 1700, since 1719 he was member of Jury. Condition Condition is quite nice. Dial is in good condition. Movement is running in every position, though I don't guarantee time keeping.
The plain brass case is in ok condition, with some period wear. Don't forget to see my other items on sale. Video will open in a new window.
