This is also called a lorgnette chain, a guard chain, a slide chain, or a long watch chain. This chain is 54.6 inches long, with 54 inches of chain and.

6 inches from the 14k gold dog clip/Albert clasp. It weighs 19.65 grams without the fob, and 21.5 grams including the fob. The chain is 1.5mm thick. The garnets measure 7.5mm including the bezel. This chain has Belcher style links. The garnets are staggered on the chain, and are 5.5" apart, with a 14.5" gap without garnets as it goes behind the neck. The chain is connected by the 14k gold dog clip. The antique fob is a scent/perfume bottle. The top used to be removed to dab on the perfume, but at some point in time the top was soldered onto the bottle. The fob is incredibly intricate.

It weighs 1.87 grams. It measures 23.5mm tall by 13.5mm wide.

It is 5.8mm thick. This watch chain is in excellent. I have never seen a piece this old that is in such good shape. There are no repairs, and no existing damage.

The garnets are in excellent condition and the bezels are firm and strong. The chain has no kinks, breaks or repairs. I went over every link and there isn't even one that is misshapen. There is not any visible wear.

This chain, while it appears to be delicate, is strong and fully functional. The only thing that I have noticed after looking at it in macro is a very slight darkening where the chain was soldered, for example: close to the garnet settings, and where the jump rings were attached to the ends of the chain. That is commonly seen in true antique gold pieces because jewelers used a different solder than they do now. Check the photos, but I do not think it is visible to the naked eye. I don't gloss over anything in my listings; anyone who is familiar with my store knows that I point out every single irregularity.
