Beautiful quarter repeater in solid 18k gold case. Made by Alphonse Jeannot Droz in Besançon, France, about 1870s. Tardy in "Dictionnaire des Horlogers-Français" mentions Alphonse Jeannot Droz in Besançon, who exposed and protected in Paris in 1867 his own version of keyless winding. The quality is highest possible, cannot be better.
Movement is based on ebauche by Audemars illustrated in book "Audemars, his life and works" book by H. The movement is very nice, it's beautifully finished with perlage and Geneva waves. It's jewelled to the hammers (32 jewels totally), has counterpivots for all escapement.
Nice golden screwed chaton to the centre wheel. All wheels for both trains (repeating and transmission) are made of rose gold, the winding wheels has wolf tooth profile. All metal parts are polished and bevelled, screws are blued. The back cover is decorated with coat of arms under the ducal crown.Watch comes in original box, with traces of stamp by Jeannot Droz. Truly beautiful watch, genuine collector's item. Condition The watch appears to be in good condition. The movement is in running condition, though I don't guarantee time keeping. Repetition strikes as it should.
Cosmetically watch is quite fine, with some minor wear to the case. Case is hallmarked for 18k gold, dust cover is also made of gold. Please look video below the photo. Case diameter is 49mm, height without bow is 62mm. Weight is 99.8 grams.
