18ct Gold Victorian Half-Hunter Keyless Pocket/Fob Watch by P&A Guye London in good condition. Serial Number 21569 18ct solid gold case hallmarked in London on all covers, Pendant and Bow; the covers having a hallmark date letter for 1895 and casemaker mark PW. The movement recently disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, oiled and timed.

18ct gold hallmarked bow has no discernible wear. Watch diameter 37mm, 52mm overall.

Case opening push-piece in centre of winder springs-open front with alacrity. Case with no gaps on covers and all catches work well. P & A Guye were two brothers who emigrated from Switzerland in the mid 1800's and set-up a Watch Manufactury at 13, Northampton Square, Clerkenwell, London in about 1858. P & A Guye mainly produced high-grade watches for others and became famous for being the first to produce machine-made watches for J.

As with this watch, they also made watches under their own name but this was unusual. The Guye brothers also published articles on isochronism and the varied escapements they developed. The Casemaker PW would have been Philip Woodman (Case and Pendant Maker) trading as P Woodman & Sons, 33 Smith Street Clerkenwell London. The 18ct gold case, without movement and non-gold parts, weighs approx. A high quality London-made jewelled movement appropriate for an 18ct gold case.
