He's got glass eyes for more real effect, and tiny nips to the tips of his "ears". These served as a night time bedside table item, the pocket watch hanging in use as a night clock and its watch chain also resting in the carved basket. The hook on this one is also carved in wood, fully intact. If you've followed us for a while you know I'm a big fan of the old hand carved "Black Forest" items that come to us from 19th century Switzerland, Germany, parts of France and Italy, where they pleased the Grand Tour tourists and still please us all today. These hand carved treasures range from whimsical small bears to large and elaborate mantel clocks, wall clocks, wall plaques showing the most awesome anatomical studies of stag, fowl, "fruits of the hunt".

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I can see a tip on each of the owl's "ears" is chipped off. Otherwise I see nothing by way of a flaw to report.

The measurements appear on the photos. The hook for the watch is carved wood, original as you see it. We're easy to deal with.
