Henry Moser Faberge-type double barrel 8-ds original antique pocket watch

  
Original Henry Moser Russian market antique 1870s solid silver pocket watch 8-ds going. 56 mm case ('84' silver purity hallmark stamped for the Russian market). Movement number matches with numbers on case and cuvette. Henri Moser later supplied this type of caliber to Faberge for installing within their famous (and now quite pricey) desk clocks. Though, movements in most Faberge pieces had more utilitarian decoration and a simpler finish since they were closed behind screwed covers, without show-off intention. Often this hard-to-find Moser caliber serves as a primarily identification sign of genuine Faberge clocks. Today, the forgers with upper skills and sufficient intelligence could convincingly imitate hallmarks, designs and guilloche enamels altogether. However they are surely not able to reproduce original Moser-supplied'double power' movements (instead, they utilize cheap, usually single-barrel, analogs from 1920s widely available around). Most likely, Moser company itself ordered these dual wind calibers from Piguet freres. Up to date I have traced just one another Moser double barrel 8-d pocket watch with similar finest grade movement. In solid silver case, too, with gothic-styled'Moser' inscription on cuvette as well, but a little later made and another case exterior version. Finely preserved movement; sets, winds, runs good (serviced in 2019).

Case has signs of use and few regular scratches. Basic non-original key for winding and hands-setting included.
