Antique Victorian Pocket Watch Holder Figural Stand, Birds, Mother of Pearl Egg

  

Antique Victorian figural pocket watch holder stand. Of superb quality casted bronze or brass, the stand is crafted to resemble a bird's nest on a branch. Featuring a large encasement to house a cherished pocket watch. Flanked by a pair of cheerful birds. The pair are quite charming, superbly casted dimensional figures with lifelike appearance and beautiful detail to the feathers.

To the center is an egg-shaped nest serving pin dish, a keepsake for small trinkets or jewelry. The dish is composed of mother of pearl half shell and embellished further with woven wire-work. Mounted on a heavy base in the form of a cluster of oak leaves and acorns. A charming piece, multipurpose vanity or dresser trinket is most likely French in origin. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use.

The mother pearl with a stable crack in the center. The stand measures 5 3/4" length x 4 5/8" height x 5 7/8 deep. The aperture capable of holding a pocket watch or locket pendant measuring 2 1/8 wide. The pocket watch in the last picture is only for display and is not included in the sale.
