Beautiful pocket quarter repeating watch in solid 18k gold case. The movement of excellent quality is equipped with ruby cylinder escapement.

Ruby cylinder escapement was adopter by A. Breguet and widely used in his watches. It has much less friction than steel cylinder and allows to achieve better results than with common steel cylinders, probably on par with lever escapement. But is quite fragile and hard to make. With the progress in development of lever escapement, ruby cylinder practically disappeared after 1830s.

Quality of the watch is really nice. Design inspired by Lepine and Breguet with freestanding barrel, typical for early XIX c.

Movement is attractively finished, gongs and screws are blued. The steel parts are mirror polished and beveled.

Beautiful solid silver dial with attractive pattern. The case is equally beautifully made, it's hallmarked for 18k gold and bears maker's mark. Cosmetically watch is quite fine, with minor wear to the case.

Dial bears some light marks. Mineral glass, original golden Breguet hands. The movement is in running condition, though I don't guarantee time keeping. Repetition strikes as it should. Overall good collector condition, without major flaws.
