Antique 1939 Yachting Timer H&BSC Regatta Napier Sailing Pocket Watch - Working. The Napier Sailing Club was formed on Monday 16th February 1891. The first race was held the next Saturday, 10 yachts took part. The great earthquake on 3rd February, 1931, reaching 7.9 on the Richter Scale, was an absolute disaster. The yachting waters of the inner harbour was almost entirely converted to dry land.

Yachts were then forced to sail in the open sea. In July 1939 permission was obtained from the Harbour Board to erect a shed at Scapa Flow. After some debate the new club kept the old name of "Napier Sailing Club" Donors of cups and Trophies to the old club re-donated these to the new club; many of these are still raced for today.

Thus in 1939 the club as we know it today on its present site, begun. The year this watch was produced, creating this unique piece of history. 1951 saw the beginning of building some clubrooms, which were completed in 1952, mostly by voluntary labour. The clubrooms as they stand today were started in 1968, again built largely by voluntary labour. However in 1974 it was obvious that the new clubrooms were too small.

The Clubhouse extension was completed in 1981. Condition - Great condition overall.

Case has some scratching to case back to the chrome. Dial great some minor aging, some wear to dial at 15.

Tested and working as it should plus resetting. Movement has been oiled, runs strong and loud. Glass good some minor scratches after being polished.

Some wear to chrome on crown. Country of manufacture - Switzerland.

Case Material - Chrome, base metal. Case width Approx - 48mm. I personally change or polish crystal/Plexiglass to a high standard and straps plus test the watches for efficiency unless specified in title and description.

In working/serviced condition watches are guaranteed by -5/+5 minutes and is checked manually, item in working condition and keeps time to the best of my knowledge and runs for at least 12+ hours, give or take -5/+5 minutes over 24 hours from a full wind, unless specified in the description. With any vintage watch not serviced, there could be a few minutes lost or gained over 24 hours.

Item has been wound and left stationary running over night and face up, to make sure the watch is functional. The best way to describe a vintage watch is like an old car, regular servicing, oil and care will keep your watch healthy and improve longevity.
