Antique Georgian period Sterling Silver Pair Cased Fusee Verge Pocket Watch in generally good condition for age but in need of a clean / service as in its current state the watch movement does not respond. The Silver pair case to the watch proper is without dings or damage and has a lovely aged patina, steel spring plate to the opening of the pair case is broken off so will need restoring as in its current state the pair case does not stay closed shut. The case to pocket watch itself has a small ding flush to the key hole and a couple of small bruises but is otherwise undamaged and is intact with stem and hinged bale in good order, Bulls eye watch crystal is intact, has a few scuffs but is otherwise undamaged, watch dial has a series of hair lines to the enamel from roman numeral XII to numeral IIII, gold metal hands are intact and in good order. The Drop dial movement to the watch has excessive wear to the silver case interior where steel tooth safety catch meets it and as such does not lock into place so would benefit from restoring. Watch movement itself is a handsome sight, fashioned in gilded brass with a silver disc regulator, floral engraved palette with engraved balance cock and ornate pierced balance cover, the balance is in steel and jewel set.

Palette is signed for'Collier - Bond St. The Silver watch case and pair case are both verbatim marked for London assay office circa 1815 along with the case makers mark'JM' for James Melvill of Spencer Street, Clerkenwell, London. The watch movement as noted features a fusee chain drive with verge escapement, the movement is entirely intact but very dirty and as such does not run (as previously mentioned) with mainspring wound to maximum, balance is free and responds well when the movement is urged in the hand, a good deep clean should resolve the issue getting the watch back to running order again. When installed within the pair case and laid flat including stem and bale the pocket watch measures 7.7 cm x 5.3 cm x 2.3 cm (measurement includes proud sitting bulls eye crystal).
