Antique Swiss Gun Metal Button Hole / Lapel Watch (Working) c1910

  

This intriguing piece is made from gun metal with a circular button that contains the movement and a sprocket that is set with a watch. The dial has a white enamel face which is edged with a line of gilt dots and is surrounded with a gilded metal band - please see the description of the condition of the glass below. The winder to the side is gilded and, by pulling it out, the hands can be set to the correct time. The bottom of the dial is marked'Swiss' but there are no other marks that I can find on this piece. I would estimate it to date to the first quarter of the 20.

This piece appears to be in good working condition. I've wound it twice and it has run for 32 hours and kept good time. However, I think it would benefit from a good service/clean. The dial of the watch is in good condition and the detail is clear.

Unfortunately, there is a crack to the glass at the bottom and what look like a few chips inside the edge of the glass in the same area. At the edge of the glass by the number 2, there is a small chip. I've tried to show these areas as clearly as possible in the photos. The metal of the casing is in good condition with no damage but there are some areas of light corrosion.
