Antique Swiss Longines Pocket Watch Tripoli Libya WW1 Era Italo-Turkish War
Antique Swiss open-face, stem-wind pocket watch by Longines. In a white metal case, with a foliate side design, and an interesting back panel depicting a patriotic image of a soldier with sword and flag above the word Tripoli. The flag appears to be a WW1 era Italian design, and may relate to the taking of Tripoli from the Ottoman Empire after the Italo-Turkish War of 1911. The back isn't marked for Longines, but is an exact fit for the watch. The movement and dial are stamped for Longines. The watch is in working mechanical order, and can be wound and the hands can be set - it may need a service, but ran for 6 hours or so. Cosmetically, there is a chip and portion of the face missing at the 8 o'clock mark, with some hairline cracks running across the dial, also. The case is in good condition, though the bow is missing from the crown.
The inside of the watch back has WE1278 written in pen, as per the photos. 5cm in diameter, not including the stem. This item is in the category "Jewellery & Watches\Watches, Parts & Accessories\Watches\Pocket Watches". The seller is "sim*s_stuff" and is located in this country: GB.
