VERY GOOD, LARGE 18s, ANTIQUE AMERICAN, 15 JEWEL, ELGIN POCKET WATCH. A very good, antique, Victorian gentleman's, American Elgin Pocket Watch dating from c1912. This watch is a good example, in nice condition and in good working order.
The watch case is in good condition, all covers screwing on and off smoothly as they should. It has case maker's trade name, the "Philadelphia Watch Case Company" and also stamped "Silverode".
Silverode was a metal of nickel composition. These cases looked like silver but was far stronger and harder wearing. The white enamel dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in Arabic numerals and a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock. It is signed by the maker "Elgin".
The good quality, full plate, 15 jewel, Elgin movement is in excellent working order. It is signed by the maker Elgin Nat'l Watch Co. The watch is a size 18s, it measures 58mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown).
