Superb Large Antique Gentleman's English Silver & Gold Dial Fusee Pocket Watch

  

SUPERB LARGE ANTIQUE GENTLEMAN'S ENGLISH SILVER & GOLD DIAL FUSEE POCKET WATCH. A very good, antique, Victorian gentleman's sterling silver cased, fusee Pocket Watch made in London and dating from c1875.

This watch is a very good, large example, in nice condition and in good working order. The English made, fancy sterling silver case is in good condition, all covers opening and closing tightly as they should. It has full English hallmarks for sterling silver. The case maker's mark "WH", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the London town mark and the date letter "t" for 1875/76. The case with lovely, decorative engraving.

There is a central cartouche that is free of initials and has a gold garter belt surround. The silver dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in gold Roman numerals with decorative engraving to the centre, there is a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock.

The good quality fusee movement is in excellent working order. It is key wind and set by the key provided. This is a substantial watch, measuring 55mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown). The weight is 140.2g.
